School Council
At Deansbrook Infants we have a strong team council which meet up to discuss important topics such as: healthy eating, keeping safe, internet safety and the environment.
These children are voted in by their classmates and the two children with the most votes are the elected School Council members for that year! Children can also opt out if they do not wish to be involved.
During our discussions we meet with Miss Gajperia and talk about how we can improve the school and what messages we can deliver the rest of the school to help make those changes.
Last year in School Council we discussed what we liked and disliked about our school lunches. We met with Nourish caterers and tasted some food options and decided what we would like to have on the school menu. We also met with the governors of the school to discuss what changes our school would like to make to our lunches. We did this by asking our class to say what they liked and disliked.
The changes made to our lunches were: children now have the option of beans and cheese on their jacket potatoes, the pasta sauce which previously had bits in it is now smooth, children can take a second helping of food.
The school council were very proud of the changes they made and fed back to their classes the difference our voices can make!
